2014 Adventures in Education Youth Event #4

Campers attending the 28th Montana Natural Resources Youth Camp spend one week at the Lubrecht State Forest east of Missoula learning about forestry, water, soils, geology, range, wildlife, recreation and having a lot of fun. The camp is open to all youth entering grades 10-12.

Dates: July 13-18, 2014

Costs: $200.00 which includes meals, lodging and supplies. Please inquire about education and travel scholarships.

2014 Adventures in Education Youth Event #3

Montana Youth Range Camp is a five-day program open to all students ages 12-18. The camp provides students the opportunity to become aware of the value and potential of Montana’s largest resource–rangeland.

Classes: plant identification & anatomy, soils/geology, grazing management, water/riparian and range monitoring

Fun activities: wildlife watch hike, shooting range, fly tying, fishing, swimming and campfires.

Registration is $175, which includes meals, lodging and supplies.

Location: Boone & Crockett Club, Elmer E. Rasumson Wildlife Conservation Center, Dupuyer, Montana

Dates: July 7 – 11, 2014

This year’s camp is limited to 30 youth, so if interested, get your application in early to guarantee a spot at camp.

2014 Adventures in Education Youth Event #2

Montana Range Days is an annual event that celebrates the importance of rangelands in Montana! This three-day competition welcomes people of all ages allowing fun for the entire family.

Workshops for Ages 4 to Adult include: plant anatomy, plant identification, soils and range sites, inventory and monitoring, stocking rate, utilization and range planning.

Tours: Biological control of Dalmation Toadflax, Blaine County Wildlife Museum, Blaine County Historical Museum, Bear Paw Battlefield, Wahkpa Chu’Gn Archeological Site, Havre Beneath the Streets, Montana Cattlewomen Youth Educational Program

Competition: range exhibits, illustrated talks, range plant anatomy, plant identification and range management.

Location: Camp Kiwanis, Beaver Creek Park in Havre
Date: June 23-25, 2014

2014 Adventures In Education Youth Event #1

The Montana Envirothon assists high-school age students learn more about five different natural resource areas. This program is sponsored by the Montana Association of Conservation Districts (MACD) and cooperating agencies.

The Envirothon offers hands-on instruction and problem solving for environmentally concerned students. Five-member teams made up of students from the same school enrolled in grades 9012 compete locally and regionally with the winning team advancing to the state competition. The state competition for the Envirothon is held in Lewistown.

The competition is scheduled April 28-29, 2014.

It’s too late to send a team this year to the state competition, but lets think about sending a team from Circle next year!
